So you are misunderstanding that there is some special connection between the runtime version of Access and your application. With prior versions you have to purchase the Developer Extensions which included to the Access Runtime setup and a license to distribute the Access Runtime version. I created an installation setup using the Package Solution that is part of the developer extensions. I am stumped at this and there doesn't seem to be a way to check component filesizes.
I published that database as an ACCDE. The application runs, but the MS Access Security Notice appears each time the file I loaded. So the package automatically takes my compiled database and decompiles into a regular db file but changes the extension to accdr so it will run as a runtime db.Why? Kallal 12.4k1524 thanks for the response. If I copy the accdb file to the client pc then it runs fine, but obviously distributing an accdb isnt a secure way of running the database. Another option we are looking at but not hopeful of is to get Access 2007, am I right in thinking that we can just install the runtime on as many machines So I don't think that they are incompatiable.Any suggestions on what is causing this problem. I tried to publish the DB but all I got was a accde extension not the accdr. After that I repaired Office Web Components and it worked. I notice at the top bar on my machine with Access it says 2007 but in the Help menu, it says 2010?? You simply copy your mdb, mde (that what is called an Access executable), or accdb, accde (that what is called a 2007-2010 Access executable).
